Pike was very ineffective during the later stages of last season..almost as if his body is betraying what the will is so desperately trying to achieve. White of course, can still be brilliant on his day but he is hardly one of the more consistent Lions and as such has become a bit of a fringe player in the last couple of seasons.
Does this move indicate that the Lions still consider the window of opportunity open for that fourth flag? Or would they be better off trying to get some young blood into the squad to keep up with emerging sides such as St Kilda, Geelong and West Coast?
I think the next three seasons will be a lot more interesting than the last three with the new generation of challengers making their bid for premiership glory rather than just Port and Brisbane dominating proceedings.
Roll on '05....and Beyond.

REB

Happy to see him get another season. Must admit I'm surprised Whitey is getting another round but when he is playing well he is great to watch. With the retirement of Lynch, McRae and Hart and big Jonny Brown's suspensions we need to keep some experience there.
Year 2005 should be a very interesting year! Just hope we manage to secure, Hadley, Notting, Keating, McGrath all out of contract and then there's Carrot-seller....!

But I love watching Whitey play when he's having a good one. And I'm sure Ashley McGrath will not miss the finals in 2005 should be be fortunate enough to get there! Go the Lions!
