I thought Chrisso may have been fair dinkum for a while, but then I twigged he picked a non-Vic side in every match in which there was one playing, and the penny dropped quick smart.

Regardless of the result of match 4, by Tuesday at the latest its significance will exist only in the mind of the winning coach. The same probably goes for the other seven games as well.

Indeed, Fred.

Good for the kiddies to get a game and that's about it.

I have been on a death bed with the flu this week - haven't seen teams named or anything.

Has anyone gone full strength this week, or are most clubs playing a heap of kiddies?

Bennö (Bennö), Friday, 18 February 2005 03:29 (twenty years ago)

I'd say most teams are in the same boat as you Benno - not at full strength.

I know my Lions played their Intraclub last week, some of the youngun's coming through were playing some desperate footy to get noticed. They did really well. Not too many of our seniors playing tomorrow. It's exciting watching the difference between the new kids and the old heads. Such a difference in the standard of footy.

Richmond
Brisbane - but only because of the heat and the surprise factor of unknowns.
West Coast
Carlton
Sydney
Hawthorn
Geelong
Adelaide

When I tip the opposite to REB he gets 7.

Typical.:-)

Hmmm. The cats cost me a 6 legged multi which was paying $400. Damn Canberra rain.

And if you saw it on TV, it gives no indication of how wet and horrible it was. The thunder and lightning around the place made it surprising that even 3000 turned up.

ps - I didn't go either - after getting soaked for the entire back 9, I had had enough of rain by 1pm...

Glad to see my form at picking the winners each week has not dropped off from last year lol!

As usual picking with the heart and not my head. Still it's only the 'try hards cup' I'm sure I will improve when the real season starts!

Haven't seen the Geelong game but it certainly sounds bad. Roos are probably used to playing with Thunder and Lighting crackling around them with Laidley as the coach.

REB has probably gone into a deep depression already. CATS have lost not only Benny who's become a Jet, but Cresswell had come up to Brisbane and Damian Bourke has also left the CATS and come back to Brisbane. No wonder Bomber Thompson's got the Shites!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 21 February 2005 06:18 (twenty years ago)

Hardly in deep depression Gorilla Girl. Cresswell was a 'loyal and dedicated' Cat for just one year, Bourke may have gone but we've got an extra ruckman instead. As for Ben Graham, he has been replaced by Ottens who I thought did OK in the ruck. Our strengths are defence, midfield and administration and all of those will be sound again this season.

Yes, we were shite on Sunday, but better to be shite in the Harry Potter than to be 0-3 like we were last year. The Roos are just the side to knock us off (as they have done many times in the past) when Geelong try to play a fancy high-possesion game when it is pissing down and our skills are way down.

So you'll forgive me if I am not reaching for the razor blades just yet LOL.

REB

PS - Nice tipping there Susso LOL. Darn Catters cost me eight!

:)

We all know that Wizard Cup form is not the true form.:-)

chrisso (chrisso), Tuesday, 22 February 2005 23:28 (twenty years ago)

Naturally. Last year the Cats went well in the Harry Potter and a few weeks later we were 0-3. I'd take 2-1 on top of our Canberra washout over last year's scenario any day...now if we go 0-3 again that's a different matter entirely :)
