Hawthorn 18-7-115 Brisbane 10-9-69

Brisbane 1 and 3

Perhaps you'll need to start 4 threads on the Brisbane ins and outs next week because 4 obviously isn't enough.

ROTFLMFAO.

chrisso (chrisso), Saturday, 16 April 2005 05:49 (twenty years ago)

Not a bad game for the Hawks. Some of the young uns are firing up. Good to see Croady playing a blinder. Mitchell, Crawf, Williams and co also did very well.

It appears that every time I see Brissy play in the old Fitzroy jumpers, they play like the old Fitzroy.

Hawka (hawka), Saturday, 16 April 2005 08:06 (twenty years ago)

Congratulations Hawka, your Hawks played really well. It was only a matter of time for them to take a good win it's been on the cards for the last 3 rounds. Well deserved.

Chrisso sorry I missed the score for the Geelong Essendon game what was it! lol

I have no problem accepting the defeat - we lost fair and square - Hawthorn were too good for us on. BUT that is not going to stop me picking my team - Brisbane Lions every week to win!

The Fitzroy jumper can do just that - jump, as far as I'm concerned. Why we can't just say the Fitzroy Lions and the Brisbane Bears used to be part of the competition but are not longer and start out history from the day the Brisbane Lions started I don't know.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Saturday, 16 April 2005 22:46 (twenty years ago)

Chrisso sorry I missed the score for the Geelong Essendon game what was it!

Much like Brisbane, we were smashed. Im glad I wasn't stupid enough to start three threads on our ins and outs and then arrogantly tell an oppostion supporter that they had more bad news with the inclusion of another player, obviously expecting to win easily. Lucy, the day that Brisbane supporters can carry on like arrogant tossers are over.

chrisso (chrisso), Sunday, 17 April 2005 02:24 (twenty years ago)

No chrisso not arrogant about it but always hoping we will win. Don't get shitey with me because your team lost. I've moved on and just hope we have a good game next week. but win or lose I'll still pick my Lions to win and enjoy watching them.

Up yours sport!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 17 April 2005 03:21 (twenty years ago)

Quite an amazing start to the season. Here is some things I wouldn't have picked ...
last years Grand Finalists having only 2 wins between them,
Richmond are sitting 6th with 3 out of 4 wins,
Kangaroos are undefeated,
Port Adel have the worst percentage in the comp (followed by Essendon), and
The Hawks beat Brissy.

Hawka (hawka), Sunday, 17 April 2005 07:12 (twenty years ago)

I've moved on and just hope we have a good game next week.

Me too, LL. Be a pity to see similar blowouts like the last couple of Eagles games at the Gabba.

Westener (Westener), Sunday, 17 April 2005 10:29 (twenty years ago)

No chrisso not arrogant about it but always hoping we will win.

More bad news for Hawka. was the name of the thread. Sorry Lucy, thats arrogant, and don't cry because I have given you some of your own medicine back, or tell me I'm shitey when I'm not. Quite the opposite in fact. Loved watching the wooden spoon favourites absolutely dismantle the Bears....oops, I mean Fitroy...... no The Gorillas....whats their name again? Lol.

chrisso (chrisso), Sunday, 17 April 2005 12:14 (twenty years ago)

Down boy!! When it comes to arrogant supporters Gorilla Girl would be well down the list Susso. Congratulations to Matty Lloyd who this week managed to bag his 700th career goal, 200 from the umpires LOL.

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Sunday, 17 April 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

Boy am I dumb! It's just struck why all the vitriol from Chrisso all of a sudden, when he's been so affable in recent times. We play Essendon in two weeks! Wont that be a joy, both of us fighting to ensure the other remains bottom of the ladder! lol

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 17 April 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

Westener, I'm also hoping it wont be a blow out as in previous games, looking forward to a good close match - hope we get one. Will you be travelling with your team to watch?

I know a few West Aussies who are coming over.

I'm hoping Ben Cousins, Ashley Hansen, Quinten Lynch,Phil Matera and of course Mr Judd get a 24 hour bug and cant play - any chance?

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 17 April 2005 22:04 (twenty years ago)

Wont that be a joy, both of us fighting to ensure the other remains bottom of the ladder!

Essendon for the spoon. Get on 'em now whilst you can still get a reasonable price. We are certainties.

Congratulations to Matty Lloyd who this week managed to bag his 700th career goal, 200 from the umpires LOL

Seems as if all forwards are getting a good ride this season, some very soft free kicks to the blokes uop forward. Obviously another stupid directive.

chrisso (chrisso), Sunday, 17 April 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

Don't worry about fighting it out for the spoon... Pies have that sucker wrapped up already.

Bennö (Bennö), Sunday, 17 April 2005 22:45 (twenty years ago)

The Lions have played 4 or 5 young'uns this year and they have all looked good or there abouts but I'd like them to do two things.

Keep their feet more and be more positive with the handball, too many soft loopy ones boys. Attack the footy and work hard to clear the ball to team-mates, no more one handed tap-ons!!!!!! My dog's arse is black and blue enough as it is, she won't watch the footy with me anymore!

Big Bird (Big Bird), Sunday, 17 April 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

LOL@Bird!! I reckon the Lions are allowing their frustration to get on top of them as well. Justin Leppeitsch has been acting like Cam Mooney this season, or worse...Chad Cornes!

Next Monday we will know for sure. Gee, the loser is gonna cop it in the press. Malthouse or Sheeds to be in the gun?

chrisso (chrisso), Monday, 18 April 2005 02:04 (twenty years ago)

Agree REB, to be fair young Leppa has been OK this year, and considering the cainning we got around the stoppages on Saturday it was hard to be in Brisbane's back half. BUT some of his disposals in the 4 games so far, especially the kicking, have been tres ordinary. More outcomes Justin, less outputs!

Big Bird (Big Bird), Monday, 18 April 2005 02:50 (twenty years ago)

Both of them are great media manipulators, but I think Micky has been struggling under the spotlight this year.

An A Grade serious cleanout is due at Collingwood at the end of this year... Bye bye J Cloke, S O'Bree, Woey, R Shaw and one or two others that may have some trade value... (Note for Chris Tarrant - I'm looking at you)

Bennö (Bennö), Monday, 18 April 2005 04:32 (twenty years ago)

(Note for Chris Tarrant - I'm looking at you)

If I was Chris Tarrant - I'd be quaking in my boots!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 18 April 2005 06:34 (twenty years ago)

Will you be travelling with your team to watch?

LL, wife is flying to Cairns in a couple of weeks to catch up with the daughter.

I can't even afford to go to the pub.

It's live telecast for me.

Westener (Westener), Monday, 18 April 2005 10:28 (twenty years ago)

I can remember jase calling Port certainties a week or two back...but that was for the flag. It probably will happen chrisso, but it's a bit early to call yet.

Don't worry about fighting it out for the spoon... Pies have that sucker wrapped up already. benno

Now guys, sort it, sort it. Ya both can't be last...can ya? Anyway, Brissie, Port and Freo could challenge you yet.

Westener (Westener), Monday, 18 April 2005 10:36 (twenty years ago)

I have never rated O'Bree but his game against the Roos was pretty good I thought. As for Rhyce Shaw, I think he is application is good but at times his skills (or lack of) let him down. As for Woey, I can't recall a less impressive Brownlow winner and that includes Brian Wilson and Libba.

While Benno might say bye bye to the players mentioned, I don't think trading away the second tier would help Collingwood all that much. The problem at Collingwood is depth and two years running now Collingwood have had injuries and or suspensions taking out their key players. I think Collingwood don't need to get the knife out but instead try to get as much football into the next generation this year as they can because realistically, 2005 is over for the Pies.

If nobody wanted Lance Whitnall last year, then the players mentioned by our frustrated Pie would attract little interest from other clubs. At full strength the Pies are a good side and the last two years could turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Collingwood.

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Monday, 18 April 2005 21:17 (twenty years ago)

Mick made a decision last year to blood about half a dozen new players - and then proceeded to delist them...

It made no sense - he stayed loyal to the group that had made 3 GF's (2 AFL, One HP Cup) at the expense of the long term strategy.

Losing these second tier players frees up money - esp Woey (rumoured 400k).

We've lost guys like Chipper Atkins to WC, Heath Scotland to Carlscum, Paul Williams and others over the last couple of years - and kept Rhyce Shaws. Not entirely happy, Jan...

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 05:09 (twenty years ago)

Westener, life gets worse it's a Sunday game so you'll probably have Eddie commentating.

I'll be at the game I'll make sure I sing your song at the beginning of the game but hopefully not at the end:)

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 06:51 (twenty years ago)

That's easy Lucy. In my neck of the woods, most games involving the Eagles are live, so I just turn down the sound and listen to ABC Radio.

I find it really funny to see Eddie's Talking Head at Half-time and Drew Morphett's voice talking some sense. Actually makes Eddie bearable, at times. Even funnier is to see Dermie's mouth moving and hearing Karen Tighe talking. Talk about a sense of the rediculous. Puts the Ol' Dermie in a new light.

Westener (Westener), Tuesday, 19 April 2005 11:30 (twenty years ago)

'It appears that every time I see Brissy play in the old Fitzroy jumpers, they play like the old Fitzroy.'

Except when they played Collingwood in the 'Heritage Round' a couple of years ago (out my way Heritage is a firm of funeral directors). But that's no great departure either. Fitzroy's ability to embarrass, or at least scare the crap out of, Collingwood lasted until the very last of their very last days.

You'd have to know you were tuned in to something else in this case, because Karen Tighe speaks sense and seems to know what she's talking about.

I personally like to listen to the NIRS coverage, they actually call the play. They go into Perth could be 6PR - but don't quote me on the station!

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Wednesday, 20 April 2005 06:03 (twenty years ago)

Perth is where the plastic people live, Lucy.

I don't get 6PR in the Deep South and if I did I would be listening to George Grjlusich and Brad Hardie.

What a team!!
