Ablett

It's about time.

Newspaper reports have him being inducted into the Hall of Fame next week.

I read an article in the West Australian today in which Age reporter Greg Baum made an attempt to encapsulate Ablett's career, life, mistakes and triumphs into a couple of sensational columns.

Irrespective of all the baggage Ablett carries, the simple fact is that the guy was an on field genius and anything else is irrelevant to his nomination.

Greg Baum's attempt to write a meaningful article was, to me, another dipshit attempt to besmirch Ablett's character.

Who is Greg Baum? Another pimply reporter with a good use of words trying to show how clever he is at assassinating someone who could play the game.

Gary Ablett probably doesn't read this Forum but I would like to state that he is one of the best I have ever seen( even though he did clock Don Pyke a bit high in the Granny). A player who gave no quarter and asked none and provided heaps of pleasure watching him play.

Well done.

Greg Baum is one of the better writers going around at the moment. But I understand he might occasionally get up the nose of people who think Planet AFL is a parallel universe where what happens on Earth is of no account.

I thought Pykey was trying to put the hit on Ablett and came off second best but happy to be corrected since Westy has probably watched that video just a few more times than I did :)

The only good thing to come out of Abletts inclusion is that it will bring an end to the annual speculation, which in turn will bring some peace to Ms Horan's family.

Once again we agree Chrisso, I agree he was a fantastic player but the criteria does mention, Integrity and character doesn't it?

Integrity
Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code.

character
1. The combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another.
2. Moral or ethical strength.

Yes, he was one of the greatest players ever to play the game but IMHO (at this time) he has not shown either of these qualities since that incident. I would have preferred to see him sit on the sidelines until he does.

But in the end it doesn't matter, he is in. Right or Wrong it is time to move on.
