Unhappy Catter Rant

Put down your newspapers folks and if you can bear to sit through the slog, actually WATCH the Geelong vs. Adelaide game that was recently played at Sunblind Stadium.

Those cheating spineless maggots gave the Cats absolute BUBKUS in the first three quaters and the Cats managed to scam a couple of iffy calls at the end of the game and guess what...apparently Geelong only won this game because of Cameron Mooney got away with a deliberate out of bounds near the end of the game. Now I seem to recall a Fremantle player doing the exact same thing at Sunblind a few weeks ago and of course us Catters howled the same way the Crows are now..but the same result was given by the cheats but yet some scribes such as Robert KnoWalls call this inconsistent but the same decision for (almost exactly) the same act is what I would define the very essence of consistency.

When St Kilda were overrun by Geelong a few weeks back now Geelong were fortunate to win the match according to Mick McGrogon's column in Inside Football because St Kilda had so many injuries but when Geelong hold out with two injured blokes on the bench and defending a slender lead against the odds and win, it is because the cheating spineless whimpy maggot bastards are the Cats saviour! Give us a little credit you media sloths! We've had to listen to all the St Kilda bullshit and now Melbourne are the greatest thing since sliced bread. The Cats have got nothing from the maggots all year..check the -35 free kick differential if you think I'm joking. Check out Henry's broken jaw or Harley's and Bartell's concussion earlier in the year. Not ONE free kick between those three incidents!

Ah, but that big bad Cat, Cameron Mooney has been giving away six free kicks a game, I hear you say. BUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZ. Wrong again cos Cam has only played a handful of matches this season and we still get robbed by the poncy cheating half-men skirt wearing desperate housewives waching umpires.

To all the knockers remember that Geelong is still a very young side whose gun recruit turned out to be a replacement rather than the icing on the cake we thought he would be. Not only are we alive, if not so well in 2005 we will be right in the mix for the next three or four seasons. But Geelong may have to have twice as many out, kick into the wind for all four quarters and have a free kick differential of -70 and still win before we get a tick from such lazy journalists as mentioned and not mentioned above. If it was Carlton, Essendon and espeically Collingwood in our shoes we'd have more plaudits than Pamela Anderson's 'Tommy Lee' video.

Not that happy folks, that our gutsiest win for the year is dismissed by so many because after three quarters of bullshit, something finally went our way. Even the so called 'feral fan' Aristos, reckons they lost it. Pigs arse..it was hard work and a detirmination not to drop a third straight game when out of form against this year's top defensive unit.

Is a little credit too much to ask or is that only reserved for the great dumb hopes of Victoria, er, I mean Melbourne, The Saints and the Demons?

End of rant.

I agree with you REB, "the chooks" are desparate to have a local product to write about so they can sell tomorrows fish and chip wrappings. As far as us Queenslanders are concerned Geelong and West Coast are the best of the inter-state sides.

PS - Jason Asker and Leigh Matthews said three years ago the Dome surface was shit and you could hear the howls in Cairns. Two re-surfacing later Eade and Wallace say its shit and suddenly its a major issue in football. Wallace complains about the centre circle and the grass is being replaced before the weeks out. I think its not what you say, but where you are when you say it.

Big Bird (Big Bird), Friday, 17 June 2005 02:57 (twenty years ago)

Speak for yourself there BB I happen to think West Coast and Geelong are the best of the interstate teams....!!!!! lol

It wasn't just Aker and Lethal who complained so did Vossy. Brad Scott broke his ankle there and several other serious injuries as well including damage to Vossy's knee. I was thinking the same as you the other night when Wall-arse started complaining and thought - "Oh right so now it's an issue".

Same as Dani-her constantly bring up the short break - you know the one that doesn't affect them!

Give us a little credit you media sloths!

How much credit would you like after losing to Freo at home and Collingwood at the Dome and just scraping home against Adelaide in the last 3 weeks? I wouldn't be getting too precious if I were you, there is nothing to get too excited about. FFS how the hell are Geelong going to win a premiership if the are relying on Ottens, Kingsley and Playfair to kick the bulk winning scores?

I just want to say very quietly so as not to upset REB, but

HOW BLOODY GOOD IS JASON AKERMANIS! GO THE LIONS.

sorry REB but I enjoyed that match immensely.

The Geelong juggernaut is slowing down to almost a holt. Pretty weak effort in the end, i actually thought they had a chance. Should have realised they are terrible on the road.

Oh and they have a few injuries, welcome to the real world REB, sides like port and brisbane have had to put up with that for years and still been successful.

As for akermanis, back to his brilliant best, fantastic game, who knows maybe the power might play the lions again in the grand final

I suspect this would be wishful thinking that either of our teams will participate in that last day in September!

"The Geelong juggernaut is slowing down to almost a holt."

Yes, there are several Geelong players who seem to have mysteriously disappeared over the last few weeks. Have there been any strange sightings of Chinese submarines in Corio Bay recently?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Monday, 20 June 2005 01:11 (twenty years ago)

LOL. Yes, Fred, Geelong are dead in the water.

chrisso (chrisso), Monday, 20 June 2005 01:27 (twenty years ago)

I wouldnt say dead in the water yet, they still have a good squad and coach, and at their best are a very dangerous side, just hope they continue to play shit for about 3 more weeks.

jsa, Monday, 20 June 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

Have a look at the injury list. Key position players, midfielders all out at the moment.

Its not over yet - no point peaking early either. They will be right in August, the right time for a charge at the finals...

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 21 June 2005 10:20 (twenty years ago)

I thought we deserved some credit for defeating the Cows but we sure didn't deserve any for that Freo 'effort'.

Have a look at the points for column before dismissing us as a spent force. How good is Aker? Bloody good, the guy is an absolute freak and my favourite Lion player.

regards,
