My Congrats added to your JSA, I was ecstatic to see Darryl White and Chris Johnson get the back line.

Agree Jase. And God knows how Jimmy would have wound up if Phil hadn't been around to keep an eye on him, on the field and off.

Go you mighty Polly Farmer. Along with Big Nick, the best ruckmen of their generation. Interesting to note that the first indigenous Australian did not play AFL/VFL football until 1904.

It's an absolute disgrace that Derek Kickett wasn't chosen ahead of a player like White. Kickett was a genius.

Ya kidding arn't you chrisso.

Here are a few things DJ can do that Derek didn't. Play an extra 100 games, play in the ruck, play in every position on the field, play on key forwards, play as the key forward and help take a team from the spoon to a flag - the same team that is.

Sure, White has played over 250 games, played in 3 premierships and had some brillant moments, but overall I don't think he's gotten close to utilising the talents he's obviously had. He's only finished in the top 5 of the B & F twice (highest finish 4th) and was one of the least important members of their 3 premiership wins.

I'm guessing the main reason he was selected where he was because there have been very few notable key position backs of Aboriginal descent over the years?

Kickett can count himself unlucky imo - was one of my favourite players to watch in the 1990's and played some superb football for Essendon and the Swans. A shame that his dropping from the 1993 GF side and the fallout from that is what he's often remembered for.

He was unlucky to miss out, but as with all of these sides ...blah blah blah you know the stuff.

He was a fantastic player and gave great contributions to both Sydney and Essendon. The '93 GF was again one of those things and the fact that, I think, his career is remembered beyond that is credit to him. It may have been different if he'd only played 25-35 games but people who remember him for that are just being petty.
