Port Adelaide, thank you for somehow managing to cheer me up last weekend.

REB

We are and were crap... Maybe the crows are a good side after all

jsa, Sunday, 11 September 2005 21:54 (twenty years ago)

What I want to say JSA is CHOKERS!.... but I wont.

Crows played a very very good game. COuldn't believe all the rantings about the clash between Biglands and Pickett. I wouldn't have said Pickett ran into Biglands but that they both clashed and Biglands came off worse as would most against Pickett.

Like REB's CATS the problem is not the players I reckon' in both cases it's the Coach.

So bring on 2006 - I'm looking forward to it.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Sunday, 11 September 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Lucy, the definition of choking was on friday night, not saturday night that was a case of getting beaten by a far better side, bit like the last day in september last year... without any $$ help as well.

jsa, Sunday, 11 September 2005 23:17 (twenty years ago)

Geelong didn't choke Jase, we just weren't good enoug for long enough.

regards,

REB

JSA I'll dispute the far better side crap, you won fair and square but while you didn't have the Salary Concessions you did have the priviledge of staging your home final at home, AND quite a bit more time to recover before the GF.

Our record is still much, much, much (that's 3 times) better than yours!! :)

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 12 September 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

REB, 23 points up last quarter and lost i think that qualifies as a choke.

Lucy, No doubt you have an outstanding record, helped of course by having an unfair advantage over the rest of the competition, but perhaps apply the choking tag to actual choking performances as opposed to games when you get thrashed. Did the lions choke agaionst port in their last home game?? did they choke against st kilda??

jsa, Monday, 12 September 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

Maybe, maybe not but never in my eyes.:)

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Tuesday, 13 September 2005 00:15 (twenty years ago)

Attack is obviously the best form of defense, jase, but there is no way that you can push the choker tag to another team. That is exclusively owned by Port.

Even the Coach is known by that name, albeit spelt incorrectly.

Westener (Westener), Tuesday, 13 September 2005 00:49 (twenty years ago)

23 points up with no ruckman against Jolly and Ball, at their ground 3 vs 6...yeah we should have shit it in.

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Tuesday, 13 September 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

Baton now passed back to its rightful owner Geelong and soon to be handed to the weagles

REB, king was getting thrashed, mooney was outstanding in the ruck. Forget the at their ground and 3 vs 6, you were 23 points in front playing the 3rd side at their home ground and beating them, no excuses.

jsa, Tuesday, 13 September 2005 02:48 (twenty years ago)

No worries Rex.

REB

I'm with REB. But yet another honourable draw. Is Geelongs best chance gone? They should have made the GF last year, they should have made the Prelims against the Saints this year.

Have they missed the boat?

And Jase, Port ARE EXCLUSIVE title holders of the CHOKER tag.

Did a single Port player win their position last Saturday night?

Bennö (Bennö), Tuesday, 13 September 2005 23:51 (twenty years ago)

Have they missed the boat?

They need a good forward (Ablett??). Kingsley, Ottens and Playfair will never wim them a flag. Their midfield looks a touch slow as well.

chrisso (chrisso), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 00:03 (twenty years ago)

Anybody who would rather be seen as a knowledgable follower of the game (any game) than as just another noisy table-thumper should avoid the word 'choker' at all costs. It ruins your cred nearly as fast as calling players by their Rex nickname.

The word was practically invented by Patrick Smith. Need any more be said?

Fred Nerk (Fred Nerk), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 01:23 (twenty years ago)

Benno, funny ramblings from a collingwood supporter, the greatest underachieving side in the AFL, how many runners up is it?? id say a toss up between geelong and collingwood, but at least we dont have to listen to geelong supporters saying how great their club is, the greatest around and comparing themselves with man utd etc, when perhaps they should be comparing themselves to man city.

we won the position on the outta wing thanks to byron and that was all.

geelong is full of should have's but it amounts to never have and never will.

jsa, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:39 (twenty years ago)

the greatest underachieving side in the AFL, how many runners up is it??
Plenty of runners up. I know about underachievement.

I don't compare the Pies with ManUre, they are just the richest club in Melbourne. But money don't buy flags.

I have a genuine soft spot for Geelong, but I'm afraid after 5 years of rebuilding, they may have had their crack at the flag and be on the slide. Ottens, Kingsley, Flayfair and Gardiner may snaffle a flag if they are lucky, but Geelong and lucky don't go together...

Bennö (Bennö), Wednesday, 14 September 2005 02:57 (twenty years ago)

So Geelong never will NEVER amount to anything? What about this week's lotto numbers then dumbass? Give us something useful instead of sounding like a Robert KnoWalls clone with that incredible foreskin..er foresight that you so obviously posses. I guess it could be a subjective thing..if a Port Adelaide supporter can guess what comes after 10 then he immediately thinks he's Nostradamus.

Geelong still has one of the youngest lists in the comp and will make the top four next season. So there :P

regards,

REB

TOp 4 next year, thats a big call REB, im not sure they can recover from such disappointment..they may have won if they had maloney..

jsa, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 21:50 (twenty years ago)

Compared to 'premiership certanties' I was restrained in my optimism LOL.
