How long before the 'We lost all our draft picks' line doesn't wash anymore?

I'm making plans to start blaming Pagan soon.

They said it would hurt for 10 years.

I hope Carlton fans abuse Jack Elliot when they see him on the street. Its still all his fault.

How can you blame Pagan? He has so little to work with...

They are a good chance for a win this weekend so that may ease the pressure at Optus.

The draft picks we missed out on were Brendan Goddard and Daniel Wells. Both look like being pretty good players (Wells maybe better than 'pretty good') but not exactly Judd and Hodge just yet and maybe not ever. WE don't seem to be doing a lot with the high draft picks we didn't give up for peanuts.

Of course it's Elliott's fault, but that gets nobody nowhere. New York won't get rebuilt by a whole lot of people muttering about Osama bin Ladin.

Nobody's expecting Chivers Regal from dirty dishwater, but drinkable Scotch shouldn't be beyond an supposed expert brewer like Denis. Right now he's giving us Harpic.

With duds like Bentick and Carrazzo in the team, what do you expect? Ohalpin? Too much energy has been put into him...

Waite needs to pull his head in and stop trying to take screamers every time, and he should watch Fat Lance working hard for each possession, and not giving the ball away cheaply.

I'm surprised Stephens hasn't snotted someone out of frustration, and McLaren and Barnaby need to think about what they are doing out on the ground.

But where do you start?

Essendon are at least trying to win and putting themselves in winning positions. Carlton aren't. Pagan's anal coaching style is not suited to young teams and is mainly motivated by wanting to save his own arse.

In the last month and a half of last year Carlton threw all their talent up front and beat Collingwood and Richmond (both of whom we've already lost to this year), pushed Port to 14 points, and kicked centuries in those matches and two of our other losses. At least the scoreboard was ticking over and we were playing with some enthusiasm, and all the players whose names have come up in this thread, plus a heap of others, were showing good signs. Where has all that gone?

Pagan has 18 months left on his contract. By the time he clears off his departure will be as welcome as Elliott's was.
