Some thoughts on this weeks meaningless matches of basketball.

Jeff White and the Seven Dwarfs v Egirls

The girls made me look a right pillock last week (not too hard I know) after towelling up Eddie's boys in fine style at Subi. Jeff White and the seven dwarfs also were pretty sharp against the Hasbeenroos as well so I've read and digested. Jeff White was supposed be reinvented as a forward this year but it may have been a blessing in disguise that Jolly got creamed because Whitey played a top game and even roosted a 100m goal.

However, by all accounts the Hasbeens only started pre-season training the morning of the Canberra clash and the D's will find the Egirls full of legs (you should see the website LOL). The pharmacist and his men to make the Demons swallow a bitter pill of reality. Eags by five goals.

Geeit'sbeenalongtime v The Cheetahs

The clash between the Cats and the Cheetahs should be a good one with plenty of promising talent on show with the Bluesaggers busting a gut to prove they can win against a side with more than six league regulars in it. Kouta is out for the Cheetahs and Paul Chapman will be back for the Cats and if David Clarke, for the first time in his career DOESN'T kick it to the opposition then I'll be one mad catter! Cats to prevail with the Fev v Scarlett clash a highlight. Cats by five supergoals.

Bitchmond v St Elsewhere

The question on everyone's lips is 'where can I get a free beer', I mean, will the queen bitch play for the tiges? If he does, put your money on the Saints. Richo will be just itching to have a whinge after missing out last week and he should spoil Nathan Brown nicely. To prove he is a true Tiger, look out for Nathan Brown to not get a touch against the eighteen year old kid who takes Maxiheart the brave's place.

At the other end of the ground expect carnage from Riewoldt, Gehring and Hamill. Saints to win by 41 points.

Brisbaneofourexistence v Essengorn

The Gliders looked sharp last week ,as did the Lie ins but with Jonathon Biege out of action for a while the pendulum swings towards Nutter's men. Both sides will take two quarters to score as they flex their bulging biceps in front of the television cameras. Lloyd is so hungry for goals though that he will stop first and bang through a couple of sausage rolls.

The Lie-ins, if they turn up to play can beat anyone but if numbnuts like Murphy can kick goals then we could all be in trouble with the Red and Black machine. The Bummers in a close one by, I don't know, nine points. Super!

So that's all for me then, sorry, I know my predictions are carp but you should know by now that sequels are never as good as the original!

regards,

REB

PS - Cats for the flag!!

REB While I agree with you on most points, eg. Eagles to win, and Sookie Bubba Richardson to spoil any hopes Richmond have (he'll be worried Shane Morrison will take his spot in the side)

I reckon the Lions v Bombers will be a lot closer than 9 points. Yeah Jonny Brown is having a holiday but Big Al is back along with "I have a haircut once a year" Keating, Chris Johnson and the lovely Simon Black.

Go Lions!

Hey REB hope your boys arn't peaking too early in the season!!!!

Glad to see the Catters doing well.

I predict a Geelong V St Kilda GF.

Lucy Lion (Lucy Lion), Monday, 1 March 2004 01:58 (twenty-two years ago)

A scrappy twenty point win against the Bluesaggers is hardly peaking Chimp Chick but we'll take it thats for sure. We've still got Steve Johnno, Gazza jnr and Monica to come back in to the side (as well as Top Cat), so hopefully we can get a bit closer than last year.

regards,

REB

PS - It's Cats v Bombers for mine. I can't see anyone left in the Potter stopping Nutter's blokes.
