One of the subsidiary pleasures of reading Icelandic sagas is encountering the many interesting names. The list below is a half-assed compilation of thirty names derived from just two Penguin translations: Egil's Saga and Njal's Saga. A few of these are main characters, most of the others are plucked from the genealogies that often accompany the introduction of a notable character. There were dozens more almost as captivating, and many, many more sagas I could have gleaned.
