Schadenfreude in Literature.

I'm looking for examples of books where this is the main, or one of the main, themes. Any pointers much appreciated.

Hmm, it seems like there must be a lot of books on this theme, but I'm having a hard time thinking of many specifically. I guess it's a likely subtext in any book about two friends in which one friend is more successful than the other. Martin Amis's The Information is one.
