Any suggestions forwriters who do a bitch style/voice well? Not necessarily high camp but welcome too.

I meant 'bitchy' sorry - gender of writer or voice unimportant, not particularly looking for womanist material ...

Truman Capote was renowned for this in real life. I'm not sure he used it much in his writing.

Generally speaking, anyone famous as a "cutting wit" has a large measure of bitchiness to draw upon - Oscar Wilde or Gore Vidal, for example. I should think that a little bit of that goes a long ways and any writer who knew their craft would avoid unrelenting bitchiness as something that would drive most of their readers away.

There's a lot of bitchiness in Gore Vidal's memoir Palimpsest, but his novels have much less of it. He's speaking in Portland this weekend as part of Wordstock, and is great fun as a speaker if you get a chance to see him.

There's always Florence King, who is fun in small doses.

joe orton's diaries are terrifically bitchy - not so much his plays, which are more deadpan comedies.

i read most of "the portable dorothy parker" the other week and was surprised how unbitchy it was, for the most part.
