enjoy fforde -- not least due to his name, and his insistence that wales is a communist paradise -- but i've neither read 'jane eyre' nor been quite enough of a librarian to fully appreciate the lore

there is a whole cottage industry of this shit, I remember as a teen finding a book by Robert Rankin. It had a lot of boomer music adoration and a strange relationship towards lesbianism, which did not endear me to it, aside from the wacky comedy stuff.
