POLL + Discussion: Should ILB have a single annual What Are You Reading thread?

It's been about a year since ILB combined its four quarterly 'What Are You Reading?' threads into a single annual thread. So, how did that work out in your opinion and should we continue having just one per year?

The poll options are designed to capture the most obvious alternatives, but if you want to canvass for your favorite go right ahead. Suggesting thread title(s) or complaints about the previous title would be very on-topic, too.

is there a good reason not to have just one thread for all time?

I find that creating a new thread creates a temporary boost in participation. What would you like about switching to a never ending thread?

Never Ending could eventually get to be hard for some to load, couldn't it? That's why Rolling Speculative started over, at least one of the times that it has.

Also might get harder to search on?

Rolling SF has had that exact problem and needs to be restarted every now and then.

Yeah, I just call it Rolling Speculative for some reason.

Alhough I think that each of its incarnations has rolled on for several years before getting glitchy, right?

First one went on too long iirc but yeah, basically

Voted for keeping it single annual, seems okay.

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

Thanks for voting. We have an obvious winner. An annual thread will be coming soon on Jan. 1. If I were to initiate the next thread, its title would be simply:

2026: What Are You Reading?

Other suggestion are welcome.

Blindness, Pack My Bag: What Are You Reading in 2026? (finishing up my use of Henry Green titles, but some would object immediately, others might get tired of it before 2026 is past, although midterm results may improve all our dispositions, if anything can)
