Kiran Desai won for The Inheritance of Loss. Anyone read it? Or any of the shortlist?

I haven't. Just wondering.

I've read her other book, Hullabaloo in the Guava Orchard (purchased mainly based on the title) and thought it was delightful. Inheritance of Loss is somewhere on my shelves, I think, though I've not yet cracked the spine.

three weeks pass...
I've only got Sarah Water's Night Watch on my shelf, waiting patiently to be read. I may seriously consider Desai as I've heard that some of the inhabitants of the village she writes about in Inheritance are thinking about burning copies to express their dismay. Nothing like a theoretical book burning to enliven one's interest.

I really enjoyed the Waters.
