Anyone read Eggers' What is the What yet?

I loved this book. Thought it was a brave and succesful departure for Eggers. It was so unselfconcious you almost felt that you could still hear Dave going "check out how unselfconcious I am!"

It made me have a little weepy - which is rare for me.

And it's subject matter I would probably steer clear of.

Aces.

I loved it too, although I kept wondering which parts were fiction or nonfiction as applied to Deng himself. One particular coincidence near the end, which I don't want to spoil for anyone, made me groan and roll my eyes and wish that Eggers had exercised a little restraint, as it seemed just too pat/convenient/obvious-- from reading interviews later, of course it turns out that part was true...

one year passes...

just finished this... a remarkable story

after reading about deng elsewhere, i'm of the impression that eggers only fictionalized conversations and the sequence of events that happened in present day Atlanta (the wait in the hospital, etc). it's incredible and very sad that most of deng's story is indeed true.
