Non-fictional prose stylists

Hello ILB, long time since I posted here. I was looking for examples of writers of non-fictional prose who are great stylists. (yes yes Joan Didion. Who else?). It might be helpful if you could say why you think someone is good, but don't worry if that feels too much like writing a book report. A subsidiary question might be -- how important do you think 'style' is in non-fiction writing? ta.

George Orwell? His style is very unflashy, un-show-offy, but it's wonderful: penetrating, rich, ascerbic yet generous.

Dammit, I'm the one who's supposed to say George Orwell on these threads.

Fine: John McPhee at his best.

Eliot Weinberger's essays are good. Ryszard Kapuscinski--The Soccer War, Shah of Shahs. Charles Bowden--Down By the River, Blood Orchid. Many more I like but I'll stop there.
