I really dug Jakob von Gunten. SOme of the short stories didn't work so well, but others were great. Haven't yet read The Assistant, but it's in the teetering pile.

one year passes...

Was reading three articles on this guy yesretday, its quite a story when you factor in the micro handwriting and the whole business of the physical aspect of writing.

One thing I didn't get was how he came to write for newspapers and magazines AT ALL. I really would like to read an article on that part of his life.

new directions put out some newly translated stuff that I want to look at, I haven't read jakob von g but most of the short stories of his that I've read are pretty amazing
