Spy fiction - search/destroy

I'm bombing through John Le Carre books at the moment. I judge them to be very entrertaining, both on a cerebral and a "blimey, I wonder what happens next!" level. Thus far I have completed "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold" and am near the end of "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy".

Can anyone recommend other spy writers?

My wife has been on a Ken Follett rip, on and off, the last few years. Most of those (at least the WWII ones) seem to be full of spies and faster moving (for better or worse) than JLC.

The closest thing to LeCarre that I've read recently is Alan Furst's set of novels. Similarly downbeat and psychological, but more historical and much less anglocentric.
