Marie Godfrey, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 04:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Where are my royalties?

Mikey G (Mikey G), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't get it.

Vermont Girl (Vermont Girl), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 13:45 (twenty-two years ago)

I think she's Austalian.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, Fish and Chips.

Phastbuck, Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Gomez, Mansun, South, mummRobbiemmblemummWilliamsble.

Vermont Girl (Vermont Girl), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Gomez! Mansun! Is that the pinacle of our achievement as a nation? The Beatles will be miffed.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you mean why do I 'Fart a bi nimrod'?

Michael White (Hereward), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Tea and biccies.

LondonLee (LondonLee), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 16:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Chelsea vs Arsenal tonight. That's the sort of thing we're good at.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry for the flatulant humor. Youthful exuberance, etc...

'Daft Mini Arbor', which brings to mind British suburbia quite well.

'Damon Fair Brit', though my girlfriend's always fancied Alex James.

'Rain Mob Adrift' - 'nuff said.

Carry on.

Michael White (Hereward), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait!..... black and tans

Phastbuck, Thursday, 25 March 2004 02:51 (twenty-two years ago)

The most bestest thing about Britain is that it keeps all those millions of Yahoos from spilling out into the rest of the world.

SRH (Skrik), Thursday, 25 March 2004 07:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Chelsea vs Arsenal tonight. That's the sort of thing we're good at.

We were playing so well I thought I was going to cry at the injustice of it all when Pires scored. By gum, we'll beat those bastards one day.

LondonLee (LondonLee), Thursday, 25 March 2004 13:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Is this board called 25 words or less or I love books?

Maria D., Thursday, 25 March 2004 13:56 (twenty-two years ago)

It's been renamed I Love Books (and Football).

Lee, I thought a draw was a fair reflection of the game. Obviously, it favours Arsenal with the away goal. I fancy Milan to win it again this year. They look unbeatable at the moment.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Thursday, 25 March 2004 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

If people love britain so much why are so many brits moving abroad?

sally (sally), Thursday, 25 March 2004 15:01 (twenty-two years ago)

The weather.

Vermont Girl (Vermont Girl), Thursday, 25 March 2004 15:38 (twenty-two years ago)

you could ask the same thing about Aussies and Kiwis, and they don't have the weather as an excuse, maybe they just love bar work?

chris (chris), Thursday, 25 March 2004 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

nah Chris ..... just being in bars

jugo slaver, Saturday, 27 March 2004 06:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Monty Python. The British are just wittier than everyone else. Monty Python has stood the test of time.

Ellen Lane (Ellen Lane), Saturday, 27 March 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Because of Tony Blair, New Labour, educashun educashun educashun and the continuashun of Thatcherite policies. That's what's made us great! Oh, and the NHS. Ummm....

Dorien Thomas (Dorien Thomas), Saturday, 27 March 2004 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

The British are just wittier than everyone else

You've obviously never heard of Jim Davidson.

LondonLee (LondonLee), Saturday, 27 March 2004 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmmm i see your point. Okay, let me rephrase that: A large portion of the British are wittier than everyone else.

Ellen Lane (Ellen Lane), Saturday, 27 March 2004 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been thinking about this. Benny Hill is the answer. Yes. Britons are a product of the incessant repeats of the Benny Hill show on ITV.

SRH (Skrik), Sunday, 28 March 2004 07:47 (twenty-two years ago)

The Vicar of Dibley came third in the BBC's Best Sitcom Ever debate. I think the British need to take a long hard look at themselves.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Monday, 29 March 2004 07:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Britons are a product of the incessant repeats of the Benny Hill show on ITV

Do they still do that? I haven't seen a Benny Hill repeat outside the US in years and years. And as for Only Fules and Horses (which Jonny Vaughan rightly called a sitsoap, not a sitcom) winning over Blackadder, I just find it incredible that so many people my Dad's age know how to send text messages. I'm assuming they're the people that voted for it.

At least Blackadder sometimes mentions books. Unlike this thread.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Monday, 29 March 2004 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

This thread was recently voted the worst thread ever by the British public.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Monday, 29 March 2004 08:44 (twenty-two years ago)

There are other, much more American-dominated sites, where they've actually invented an icon for irony!! Can you imagine that? They NEED one!

Britain is great.

(Exactly 25 words. Let's drag this thing back. Discipline is good.)

Dorien Thomas (Dorien Thomas), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

At least Blackadder sometimes mentions books. Unlike this thread.

My answer: "Reasons to be Cheerful" by Mark Steel.

I think that satisfies all criteria.

lint (Jack), Thursday, 1 April 2004 04:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going for Fowler's End by Gerald Kersh. Magnificent.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Thursday, 1 April 2004 08:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul McCartney! And sheep!

pepektheassassin (pepektheassassin), Thursday, 1 April 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

The nomenclature "Great" Britain was invented by James I to simultaneously imply a unity of the races here and distinguish us from "Little" Britain - Brittany.

(25 words, bang on!)

Dorien Thomas (Dorien Thomas), Saturday, 3 April 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
May I mention UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS? I watch it on the treadmill.

Becky Willis, Monday, 19 April 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Who in the world doesn't love a former empire? Not me!

aimurchie (aimurchie), Tuesday, 20 April 2004 01:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Former? Present? Those yet to come? Naaahh...

Dorien Thomas (Dorien Thomas), Thursday, 22 April 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

If people love britain so much why are so many brits moving abroad?

Because the country is bloody horrible right now. Too many cars, too many out of town shopping centres, too many bored people. Hopefully a few million will emigrate and give this country a little respite from their boredom.
