I wonder if there is a listing of plots that utilize the "event that occurs in the sealed room." I know of the sherlock holmes mystery where the snake crawls down the rope and returns after poisoning the person. What other "takes" on this are there? Is there a listing by plot I could see?

Bizarrely I was reading "The Mystery of the Speckled Band" yesterday, after having the book in my posession for two years.

I'm pretty certain there's one or two in the Father Brown mysteries.

John Dickson Carr (also wrote as Carter Dickson) specialized in the "locked room" mystery. I don't remember titles (it's been years since I read him) but he used that device all the time.

You'll note Carr figures prominently in these lists.

Agatha Christie's first, "The Mysterious Affair at Styles", is a classic locked-room mystery (though one I haven't been able to finish...).

And also They Do It With Mirrors by Agatha Christie, if I remember correctly.
