I'm off on my holidays tomorrow for ten days. This is a city trip (London, then Paris), so it's not exactly a reading week (that's for Greece, later on in the year), but it's still worth a bit of planning. I'm NOT taking any cheesy Paris books with me. I am taking some Dan Brown rubbish to read on the plane, Barry Unsworth's Losing Nelson, Darren King's Jim Giraffe, and at least one other. What would you take on a city break? Have I enough books with me? Should I bring that Jonathan Lethem or is it just too big? Decisions, decisions.

well, 10 days are quite enough at least for a quick Balzac (La peau de chagrin?) while in Paris, to read when you collapse on the first orizontal surface you find to recover after a couple of rooms at the Louvre.
I wouldn't know what I would take with me in London, but my usual Dickens, of course.

We're going to the Philippines on May 18th for ten days. I have already packed "Running with Scissors" and "The Ladies Auxiliary" by Tova Miris ("Running" is by Augustin Burroughs). Anybody read "Ladies"? I plan to laugh my way across for Pacific ocean for 21 hours!
