You like comics, yeah? How about Thompson's Blankets or Robinson's Box Office Poison?

Do you really like comics? I can't read them they give me a headache. I don't know how many American dollars that is. I have been looking for the final book of the Rhapsody trilogy to come to Bookland for about three years now. Have you seen that one?

I guess something educational is out of the question...

This is probably advice you don't need- but - spend it at independent bookstores.
Buy one thing you will love and treasure, or buy lots of different titles at a good used bookstore. Buy holiday presents for others and spend lots of money on yourself next December.
If you choose to spend it on one book, I would say throw in the extra money and find a beautifully bound treasure that you have always loved.

What did you buy, Vicar? Have you spent them yet?

nothing as yet. I might see if Sub City take book tokens, and then buy Joe Sacco's "the fixer" as part of my plan to try and review it for the LRB.

or maybe I will buy a stack of John Le Carre books, seeing as how I am running out of my current lot.

one month passes...
I'm sure the suspense is killing you. As it happenned, I bought the McSwineys comics anthology and a copy of "Moby Dick". Arrrrrr.
