What should we do while ILX is down?

We've got two weeks. I think it's the perfect time for a little ILB assignment. I vote for a short story about something that's come up on ILB since we've been here - marrying people for their books, wearing no knickers, running around with no clothes on, all that other good stuff.

No min, no max. Who's with me?

And yes, I do like exams. Why do you ask?

Also, I have an existing Yahoo group which was an online writing group/workshop forum type thing but has died a bit of a death.

If anyone wants to share work or just talk about books on there, feel free to go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wordshare/ and join. It could use some action ;)

If enough people do join I'll get the ball rolling.

I sulked quite a bit, but did get a fair share of reading accomplished...

Waited, and waited, and waited some more, and kept checking, you know, just to see if, maybe....

I went to the yahoo chat room titled "Books" they were discussing movies there. Yeah I checked this site almost daily... just in case. You know when the site went down there was a message like what if this was a hoax or something, but it was later replaced by the regular site maintenance notice.

Fred (Fred), Saturday, 17 July 2004 12:30 (twenty years ago)

I read, some books, I think.

I am still reading Ian Sansom's RING ROAD.

I read some Louis MacNeice poems.

I also read all of Don Paterson's LANDING LIGHT.

I wrote to Cozen and asked him about that, but he did not reply.

I saw Shakespeare, at the theatre!

I pined and wailed and beat my head on the desk and ate lots of prawns and ice cream. Not all at the same time, you understand. And I'm still reading the same fucking book. It's a goody, but too damn long!

SRH (Skrik), Saturday, 17 July 2004 22:19 (twenty years ago)

LOL - SRH, I had cartoons going through my head of prawn and ice cream flying as you assulted your desk with your head (you poor thing, many of us did the same thing, I'm sure. Well, at least the desk part)...

yesabibliophile (yesabibliophile), Saturday, 17 July 2004 22:33 (twenty years ago)

yes another sad bastard here who kept on checking to see if ILB was back on line, also watched too much TV!
No new books at the library so have been rereading some old faves - Roald Dahl at the moment.

Is there some IRC room for ILX?

Fred (Fred), Sunday, 18 July 2004 16:40 (twenty years ago)

Not as far as I know - people do start AIM chatrooms occasionally (they were more frequent during the outage). There's at least one AIM thread on ILE where loads of people give their AIM names.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 18 July 2004 20:15 (twenty years ago)

I watched several episodes of Relic Hunter and the (increasinly stupendous) Tru Calling.

And I went to the Cotswolds for the weekend and had a car crash on the north circular.

Mikey G (Mikey G), Monday, 19 July 2004 07:49 (twenty years ago)

Shouldn't this thread be called "What should we do whilst ILX is down?"

St. Nicholas (Nick A.), Monday, 19 July 2004 15:44 (twenty years ago)

I have finished RING ROAD.

Now I have started Yeats' REVERIES.

the bellefox, Tuesday, 20 July 2004 10:18 (twenty years ago)

I guess we need an IRC room where we can hang out.

Fred (Fred), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 11:00 (twenty years ago)

Fred (Fred), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 11:02 (twenty years ago)

I was on AIM quite a lot in the last two weeks, but the only time I almost caught an ILX chat was when Matt was online and he got invited to chat instead of me :(

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 11:21 (twenty years ago)

I don't even have AIM.

Fred (Fred), Tuesday, 20 July 2004 14:10 (twenty years ago)

two months pass...
I am still thinking, pf.

today I looked out those old books of paterson's, I felt like I hadn't seen them in a while.

now, I think I should read macneice first. all of it.

cºzen (Cozen), Thursday, 23 September 2004 20:42 (twenty years ago)
