Okay, so I've not yet read anything by this author, but am hearing a lot about his Fluke, etc. from friends. Unfortunately, they're not friends whose taste in books usually corresponds with mine. So....

Should I read Christopher Moore? Where should I start?

Moore is funny. Tom Robbinsesque without being overly or annoyingly Tom Robbins. I read Fluke and enjoyed it, but I understand "Lamb" is a riot.

Any comments on his earlier stuff? I think I have something by him with "Coyote" in the title sitting in a box.

And the idea of being Tom Robbinsesque without being annoyingly so, is a marvelous recommendation!

I found "Bloodsucking Fiends" (about a girl who becomes a vampire but doesn't quite know how and her boyfriend) and "Coyote Blue" (native American guy ditches the res and is subsequently tormented by his spirit animal Coyote) very very funny. I gave "Bloodsucking Fiends" to a friend who had thoroughly and unfortunately fixated on Anne Rice, and it cured him.

*laughing* I'd think that is a marvelous recommendation for his books, then. Many, many thanks.

_Lamb_, without a doubt. I read it first, and all the others I've read since (BF, Fluke) pale in comparison.

one month passes...
Lamb is a riot. Island of the Sequined Love Nuns is my personal fave.
