What's some interesting reading about arranged marriages?

Fiction or non. From anyone's viewpoint, but especially looking for fairly contemporary stuff that reveal what it's like to be in a culture that practices this. Inspired by Indian co-worker's impassioned 'defense' (well, no one was really attacking it) of the institution and her criticism of western-style love-based marriage.

The book I'm currently reading, Sigrid Undset's Kristin Lavransdattar (without checking the spelling) has an arranged marriage. But since that is set in 14th C Norway, probably not what you're after. I am sure I read an R.K. Narayan novel heavily featuring an arranged marriage, obviously in India, but I can't think which one offhand.

Arranged marriage--->Low Expectations--->Happy married life
Love marriage--->High Expectations--->Disappointment
I don't like arranged marriages though, it's just too unnatural to marry a person you don't love.

Brick Lane by Monica Ali

Girl from a village in Pakistan (I think - maybe India) is sent to the UK for an arranged marriage with an older man.
