Terry Goodkind: C/D?

I recently started _Naked Empire_ and it strikes me that this series is simultaneously very fun and thought-provoking, yet arbitrary and forgettable. It's a little like being lectured by a sexy nun in a bikini on original sin.

See, why can't they put recommendations like that on the backs of books?

Have been curious for awhile but haven't dived in yet...

Frankly, Terry Goodkind is not very good. I highly recommend George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire," beginning with A Game of Thrones, instead. Trust me--I read the first four Goodkind books before I learned my lesson.

four years pass...

Is there already a thread about how a series of Goodkind books has been turned into the tv show Legend of the Seeker by Sam Raimi and a lot of the Xena production folks?

It's kinda cool, but also pretty awful. High points are the gyrocopter pilot from Road Warrior as a good wizard, a white robed Confessor woman who wears a skimpy outfit, and subtle D&D references that made me laugh out loud.
