I nearly got 'A Glastonbury Romance' out of the library, but was put off by its vastness and massivosity. Should I go back and get it? What are his best books? Why are they so expensive secondhand? Apart from being out of print, I mean.

Get Wolf Solent. you can usually find that pretty cheap. i always regret not buying his autobiography when i saw it years ago in a used book store for 25 bucks. i've never seen it again. i actually dig his poetry too, but that stuff is probably even harder to find. I got turned on to him when i read henry miller's The Books In My Life/ along with hamsun, giono, and others.

Amazon UK have lots secondhand, but very expensive. He seems to have written an awful lot of letters.

I got the Glastonbury one from the library (they didn't have any others). Perhaps I will Report Back.

I enjoyed 'A Glastonbury Romance' but not enough to finish it. It's moved with me 4 times--that shit is heavy.
