winter books

I like to read books by season. Something about reading a book in the atmosphere it is written in is very satisfying for me. Can you recommend some good winter books?

In Gr. 11 English we read Alive in Jan/Feb and the teacher made a small deal about how it was the best time to read such a book.

Into the Wild or Into Thin Air. Both are books that will make you grateful you're indoors with heating.

Into Thin Air is one of the few books that have given me terrible, terrible nightmares. So I second that recommendation. Another one is Crime and Punishment, but I don't know if it's wintry enough.

Would you say Mr. Pickwick reminded you of Christmas?

Thanks everyone. Those are great suggestions. I'm actually reading Death and the Penguin right now. What did you think of it Mog? Is the Alive you're talking about the one with the crashed Aregentine soccer team plane. You read that in English class?
Keep 'em coming.
