wuthering heights
the ice storm (this might just be cuz i grew up in fairfield county connecticut in the 70's so the nostalgia worked for me. plus, i just like snowy books and movies. also liked smilla's sense of snow book AND movie!)
thinking about this cuz i liked the book up in the air and the movie is coming out.
and cuz most people like the book but not the movie.
i'm sure there are plenty more examples of me liking book/movie. want to know what yours are though. and what movies you felt REALLY nailed the book and did it justice.
oh, Housekeeping! that's one more.

I think the movie is actually better than the book b/c there isn't as much "lol '70s" in it.
― Nuyorican oatmeal (jaymc), Friday, 4 December 2009 15:38 (fifteen years ago)
I also liked the Ice Storm movie because I grew up Fairfield County (though this was in the 80s). Just the scenery of the winding roads and the low stone walls and so forth.
Never read the book however.

― scott seward, Tuesday, 8 December 2009 20:18 (fifteen years ago)
a lot of people don't like blow up but i find it thoroughly enjoyable. i really like the idea of the crime being teased out of his photos and it's very interesting to see after having read the cortazar because the source is more of an inspiration or starting point for the film than a blueprint.
― wmlynch, Tuesday, 8 December 2009 21:15 (fifteen years ago)
'Blow-up' is one of my long time faves. Much imitated.I've still to see 'Red Desert.'If the silly cgi shit had not been slopped on top of 'A Scanner Darkly' it would have been much superior, imo. I do wish someone( not Lynch) would adapt 'The Man In The High Castle.'On Topic: 'Gone With The Wind.' Both novel and film are entertaining.
― Carl, Thursday, 17 December 2009 01:49 (fifteen years ago)
