Can anyone recommend me a good biography on Julio Cortázar (preferably in English)?

I don't think that there is one--a number of critical texts are around, but no biography, to my knowledge.

Strange that nobody's written one. Garcia Marquez has one and he's still alive.

Maybe not all that strange. I mean Cortazar is strangely not in (or out of) fashion. Maybe too 60s bohemian. Bit too much of a jazzbo. No Beatles refs.

Hopscotch whole shtick is never all that, either. Like him in stretches tho'.

Feel like reading 62: A Model Kit someday.

I know what you mean. I could never place Cortazar in time. Maybe the problem was he never looked his age. He was born in 1914! He'd lived through whole eras before writing his novels.

I'm melancholy because I just found out that Cabrera Infante died in 2005.

I could swear I read a whole article about a new Cortázar bio just the other day. Was I dreaming? Am I waking-dreaming now that I sleeping-dreamed that?

You are an Axolotl walking along the Pont Neuf talking to Charlie Parker dreaming of Buenos Aires.

some of his stuff feels like overly stuffy formal exercises, but then there are things like Cronopios et Famas and Save Twilight and the Axolotl
