taking a quick 3 day trip, anyone know of good used bookstores in the golden gate, van ness avenue area or therabouts?

Although now that I've looked at that link more carefully, it's WAY too smug about the SF bookstore scene, which really isn't all that great.

the closest bookstore to Van Ness and Golden Gate is:

A Clean Well Lighted Place For Books
601 Van Ness

which is really nice.

w/r/t Green Apple (one of the better bookstores in SF), that was a 3rd party review that they unfortunately chose to feature.

Stacey's - downtown (Market/2nd)
Adobe - Mission (16th/Valencia)
Phoenix - Noe Valley (24th/Sanchez)

can't add much to gygax's list. definitely hit Green Apple.

I like Borderlands on Valencia @ 20th for fantasy/sf (a few storefronts down from Modern Times, also worth a visit).
