I'd love to read "hotchpoth" but I don't want a backache.

Maybe its absurd but this should've been published in several editions, or one 600 volume 'sampler', such as has been done with Gibbon.

I did not read a single book published in 2013, but I did read a reprint of Bridge in the Menagerie by Victor Mollo from 2013. It was pretty incredible, but only if you know how to play bridge.
