another thing: if i bookmark something and then select that same bookmark once it jumps to the top of the page (like say i walked away from my computer for a while), it will take me to the OLD bookmark from that page

mostly i just dont like jumping back to the top of the page in general

it's not so bad that i'd quit ilx over it (i'd probably chew the tips off my fingers before i quit ilx) but i do find it deeply unpleasant and would prefer the option to turn it off

I tend to rely on my browser's turning a viste3d link pink/the "new posts" unfilled dot. So when the site gets rebooted and they all clear, Im completely lost haha.

There was a while where pplains wasn't on 77 yet, and I'd log in as Pleasant Plains to check in. Fuck, those bookmarks stacked up fast.

I was having this problem last week, only on my phone Chrome browser, seems to be working for me now

For some reason my phone lets me look at ILX, but I'm getting a poxy fule on my computer...

Weirder, poxy fule in Chrome, fine on phone/Android zing and Safari.

OK, still strange. ILX works on my phone (app and chrome) but on my MacBook only works in Safari; Chrome gives me a poxy fule. I wonder what's up or what changed?

Clear the Chrome cache on your MacBook and retry?

There's a Chrome developer console that might have given you a clue before the cache was cleared. If it happens again, right click on the page and choose Inspect. It will open a pane on the Elements tab. You should see Console next to Elements at the top of the pane. Choose Console and you'll see any error messages

I've been getting poxy fuled for about a month on mac desktop and my iphone, both Safari.

the first time visiting the front page (index.jsp) any non-ascii characters get rendered as ?. but later visits render then correctly. i wonder why this is?

the smart quotes on the us politics thread is one example and it'll annoy me until December.

I think that’s a browser bug due to it not downloading the fonts in time.

I seem to need to keep logging in, maybe once a day at the moment - is something up with cookie refreshes - I see max-age is set for a time about 24 hours after logging in. I’m on Firefox.

Oddness today. It has logged me out but doesn't like my password to let me back in. Old tabs see me as still logged in, until they don't. I've logged in ok on the tablet (an ancient hudl2) but the phone doesn't want to know.

I have a question prompted by a recent exchange on the Israel Apartheid thread...

Clicking on some old usernames reveals that

User does not exist in the database.

What rule governs this? I found that an old username of mine similarly no longer exists but I don't remember doing anything to delete my details back then. Just curious...

I would assume that when the db was rebuilt to import all the old posts into the current version of ILX, the old username / user / email associations got borked somehow. Especially since now those things are tied together when previously they were a free-for-all. NB I’m four beers and a bottle of riesling deep tonight and had nothing to do with the refactoring that created modern ilxor.com.
