the pastebin can only be updated by seandalai and he's busy so its out of date and id rather not have to repost another full list of nominations which I believe mucks up user searches. So just having both links seems the best option.

Hey Liz! Yeah, you'd have to re-register. I'll be sure to keep an eye out.

Also I saw that this was mentioned on the trans thread, but people might also think "Liz D" refers to Liz Daplyn, who was killed in the London terrorist bombings in 2005. I was not around on ilx when she posted here, so I don't have the right frame of reference to advise you about this, but using that as a display name change could cause some confusion.

I almost forgot about that. I will change to something else so as not to cause unneeded pain or confusion for anyone. Goodbye, posting history!

Some men shaving their head completely can look nice enough, if you like that look and they have the right-shaped head. But shaving their head is just another way of denying male pattern baldness by taking it all off. Look, if you want a thread called 'Bill Maher - dud!' then start a thread called 'Bill Maher - dud!'. The original poster didn't want to start that thread, and it'd be incredibly confusing to read the early posts with the name change. So no, I won't change the title.

As a mod I do change titles sometimes, but it's usually an addition, or I keep the original one in parentheses, or it's been asked for by the thread-starter. I believe the solution we came to for 'Is Morrissey a Racist?' was to lock that one and then start a new one called 'Morrissey Is a Racist'. But honestly, thread titles are not representative of the consensus of the board, they are representative of what the original poster wanted the thread to be called.

new thread should have been called "Morrissey is a Racist so if you're still making cutesy comments about his music in 2026 it says something about your values" tbh

the "morrissey is racist" one is funny because i was kinda shitposting when i said "can we just change this to 'morrissey is racist', i mean he was obviously racist, i didn't expect the mods to change it just because of that haha, which.. my recollection is that they did change the title of "is morrissey racist?" to "morrissey is racist". i'm glad the mods changed it! because it's cool that everytime morriissey is discussed the thread affirms "morrissey is racist". something like "bill maher - classic!" is cringe but in a funny way, because lol

the one that bugs me most is "rip david brooks", because every time i read it i get my hopes up. he's not even that old, now that i look it up. there's probably some chicken little effect going on with me and that thread. i don't particularly ever want to hear anything about david brooks that _isn't_ an obituary at this point lol
