If you spam the board moderators are likely to lock or delete your threads. What counts as spamming? - obvious advertisements, other than for events you are personally involved in. - multiple threads on the same or very similar topics. Thread duplication isn't spamming if a previous thread on the topic isn't currently in the new answers page. Otherwise it is and the moderators will probably do something about it. Don't start complaining unless you've read this first.

A different but related issue: I apologize for the duplicate Gang of Four vs. Mekons thread and the "Fuck you." Still I would like to know why the original was locked. Was it simply because Sterling Clover didn't like the thread premise or individual post(s)?

If so, whatever, but in that case please add the following to the FAQ section about thread deletion and locking: "Locking a thread can also occur when any ILM admin happens to disagree with or dislike a thread's premise or any post(s) on the thread."

sorry. i'll unlock. it seemed like it was just ppl. listing things without talking and i was still in a wrasslin mood.

constructive suggestion: change the ilm code to allow new questions from registered users only (all anon issues only apply to ile, rilly) and also hardcode a 1 new q per day or per 2 days rule.

I do see the point though. Of the newly started and revived threads since Jess went postal, only a couple are worthwhile. I would still wait until the crap sinks to the bottom of the new answers page instead of delete it all, even on the days when there's only crap near the top of the page. Most people are there to talk about music, that will eventually push out the bitching/joking/trolling/bad taste threads.

Which is also the liberal kind of attitude that ensures I'll never be an admin. :-)

This is bollocks. OK, if these threads have got something offensive in them or are totally retarded then delete them. But a lot of the threads deleted weren't that. It was a case of a mod being a complete anus, deleting threads that they didn't totally like.

It's bullshit. And even worse when MY JOKES are deleted off the face of the internet.
