settings weirdness

i went into settings to turn images off, and upon clicking save it gave a message "Since you changed your email address, your password was reset." i logged in w/ the new password it sent me and then tried to change my password to what it used to be. Each time i do this it sends me a new password. i guess i'll keep the gibberish password i was sent for now but WTF

Because you changed your email address, your password has been randomized and emailed to your new address.

Your new settings are now saved in the database.

i think i know what's causing this - the backslashes in your public e-mail address. try changing that first, then see if you can change the password. if that works then i'll root around for where the escaping isn't happening

yeah i suspected it might be the symbols in the email causing it. i'll try that when i get home.

the whole escaping apostrophes and backslashes is a bloody nightmare to get right between the GET/POST parameters and mySQL you end up having to double escapes some times. Mind you the code could do with just one here and there.
