Prolapse Classic or Dud

Could you please remove this thread. What started out as a discussion on whether Prolapse were good or bad is now an ongoing "joke" on the imaginary antics of me (Geordie Mick).
Defamatory and offensive remarks are being made towards myself and towards my friends and i'm obviously concerned, as this is easily viewed by my family, friends and employer.
Thanks
Mick

the thread is obviously satirical. also, as far as i can tell, geordie mick is a public figure of a sort and so open to satire.

i personally have no idea what's going on on that thread, but it's been happening for some time and doesn't seem to be particularly problematic so, uh, i dunno.

i'll deindex it so google will stop crawling it maybe.

i have to say i would be genuinely and entirely surprised if the posts aren't being made by the band and/or their friends.

Um. Don't you have to delete the thread according to the moderation guidelines?

(heh I know, "guidelines", but still)

i don't think deletion of the whole thread is warranted but if mick wanted particular offensive posts removed i'd be willing to help out

Um. Don't you have to delete the thread according to the moderation guidelines?

Technically, no, because Mick Harrison isn't a "registered user" of ILX, so ILX guidelines don't apply. Which does raise that question of if he *were* to register after the fact if he'd still be within his rights to demand deletion or if "registered user" refers to someone who is an active contributor to this site rather than a lurker, but then again that's big important moderator work, which I need not concern myself with.

I locked unreg users from that thread. It seemed to be getting into the realm of crapflooding.

hi, i used to be one of the posters on that thread (never once about GM though) and it seems to have changed over the last few months from silly to creepy due to what seems like one persons monomania. locking or deletion might be a good idea.

An ip check on one of the parody messages on that thread reveals that a huge amount of them are basically the same person, backing up yer supposition about one person's monomania. However, the ip they're from is one that is also used by several posters. I'm going to lock the thread - deleting all that lot is a good couple of hours work, and I've got a load of work in here at the moment, so I haven't got time right now. NB that Sterling has deindexed the thread.

Hi there,
you've kind of confirmed my suspicions.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Yer welcome, sorry for any problems caused. And indeed, Prolapse is still a great band. Hope things are well for you these days!

(I had a rebuttal to Dom's post but then I remembered it was Dom.)
