Please Use the Undelete Function on ILM Thread 6875941 and strip Jess of his mod access

Looks like Jess is modding drunk again, he just deleted an excellent thread (not locked, not logged in users only, but deleted). If the Undelete Thread code has been finalized, I suggest it be used on:
Is it worth $25 to be featured on Scenestars, a hott mp3 blog?

admin log:
8:12 PM, 6 Apr 06 Is it worth $25 to be featured on Scenestars, a hott mp3 blog? deleted by strongo hulkington is a guy with a belly button piercing (take it to IM douchebags)

this was an revealing thread about:
1)payola on blogs
2)douchey n00bs here only for the mp3 buffet
3)multiple responses from the accused
4)most importantly: accusations of pay-for-play on Pitchfork, his employer

granted, it was starting to devolve into random trolling at the end, but should we really be permanently erasing threads like these? and why is Harvell still a mod, after going on a similar rampage last month and being stripped of mod powers back then?

Here at ILX, when we look for potential mods we screen for psychotic control freaks.

Then we hire them!

Seeing as the sum total of Jess' moderation actions in the last few days has been the deletion of this thread, and the locking of Andrew's YSI thread, (most of the posts on which were bullshit as far as I could see), I don't see how this is a "similar rampage". I didn't read the thread since yesterday, so I don't know how it had progressed, but I note the "devolved into random trolling" bit, and find it difficult to get too bothered about it TBH. Maybe if someone who hasn't logged out like a pussy complains about this, someone might pay more attention?

Much of this, perhaps all of this, is transitory anyway. Do you think it forms some kind of permanent part of the historical record?

Perhaps board moderators having the ability to move threads to the idiot thread depository might be a good idea.

The "FOOL" thread is a good idea. Promote it's use.

Let's have a look at what happens when people who are logged in raise moderation issues:

why do you people ask so many irrelevant questions?

Ah well.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 7 April 2006 09:01 (nineteen years ago)

Jess, can you also unlock the thread about LEGAL mp3 downloads?

a) is that not a worthwhile discussion, promoting places that offer downloads of good music legally? Nobody even mentioned the Numero Group's site yet.

b) I need to promote my website more!

Jess, can you jump off a cliff? That would be very helpful!

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!! (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Friday, 7 April 2006 14:00 (nineteen years ago)

Ok, I wasn't the person who started this thread but I'm logged in and I'm saying that it was a funny thread that was popular in termes of the swiftness of posts to it. As of when I went to bed last night there was no reason for it's deletion.

Mods that don't mod properly--i.e consistently, fairly and transparently--are surely sending a message to everyone else on the boards to be a dick too, something for the mods to remember when they complain about nu-ilx etc.

the real tragedy here is the loss of "oh, wrinklepaws".

haitch (haitch), Friday, 7 April 2006 14:33 (nineteen years ago)

I don't see how this is a "similar rampage".

It's not, but I thought a storm was brewing. He was joking about it on an ILX thread. I was fucking pissed when he deleted the Destroyer's Rubies thread, much time had been invested in it. Why delete interesting threads and ignore all the annoying meta-YSI situation threads that are popping up?

Maybe if someone who hasn't logged out like a pussy complains about this, someone might pay more attention?

The reason why I am logged out is because I am peer of his and I don't want to be blackballed from future assignments or made a pariah on ILE. Oh, also wouldn't want my future threads deleted in revenge. This is why i'm anon, but a "pussy"? Pash, you're named after a fucking scarf yuppie chelsea girls wear.

Much of this, perhaps all of this, is transitory anyway. Do you think it forms some kind of permanent part of the historical record?

That is so disingenuous. Get one (1) Google. Had the thread been locked, writers interested in payola on Pitchfork or blogs could have used it as a starting point. Or bands about to get ripped off. Actually, how can I even take you seriously when you ask that?

Perhaps board moderators having the ability to move threads to the idiot thread depository might be a good idea.

How about locking threads? More to the point, how about not wantonly deleting things and then being belligerent? Forget the delete, how about mods that don't try to crush dissent when someone is asking a valid question?

The lot of you are just Ryan Schreiber's handmaidens.

I'm not a big fan of the thread-deleting business, especially when it's so capricious.

I would support an I Love Idiocy forum where discerning mods could send threads on grounds of taste. It's better than wiping this stuff off the face of the earth... but it looks like we tried that?

Idiot Thread Repository, sounds like a Fall song.

whereforart thou, wrinklepaws?

ZR (teenagequiet), Friday, 7 April 2006 16:36 (nineteen years ago)

Wait, how in the world could there be "accusations" of pay for play concerning Pitchfork? The site doesn't yet "play" anything apart from the tracks in the Free Downloads section, which section is clearly marked at the top: Paid promotion. No critical endorsement on behalf of Pitchfork's staff or editors should be assumed.

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 7 April 2006 17:16 (nineteen years ago)

Now now now Nabisco you are clearly looking at this too logically. Log out, drink five Red Bulls, fall off your bicycle, feel sorry for youself for another five hours and THEN read PFork again and you might see things differently.
