Weighted Thread View

I realize this's likely been asked in one form or another, but searching for it here's like Googling "Oh no! Oh my!" with a broken quote key.

Anyways, how about a weighted thread view for logged-in users? The "newest-thread view" sucks, as it has no concept of hot threads or older, revisited threads. I suggest something like the following:

* New thread = +10

* Reactivated thread, one month since last post = +5

* New post in thread since Last Visit = +1, log decreasing per thread

* New post in thread inactive for one month = +2, log decreasing

Agreed that this suggestion kinda stinks of newfangled Bulletin iBoard technology, but the mod insistence upon revisiting old threads with repeated topics virtually ensures that these posts go to the ILM graveyard. In other words, if a topic is worth revisiting on its original thread and not a new thread, then the thread's visibility is also worth elevating.

Now, I'm not saying that my weighting scheme is perfect or anything, but it's a start. I might even be able to find time to implement it if the code maintainer is no longer around.

I could make it optional that the ILM newbie has to do the arithmetic himself. ILM regulars would naturally be able to do it all in their heads.
