thread locking

I'm not sure why my, very joking thread about Ned and Archel wishing me a happy birthday was locked.
It was meant in the most light-hearted way - because...
my power was out, intemittently, for several days, and I didn't see the birthday thread for two days.
And my neighbor was swallowed by his python.
Did I do something wrong?
Archel and I have had a bit of a relationship outside of this community - via poetry, etc. -
and I didn't insult anyone.
I talked ailsa through a horrible experience with her brother, through this forum and community.
So why is this thread locked?
Am I missing something?
Please email me your response:

Archel needs to wish me a happy birthday. right now. and so does ned. even if it's two days later. locked thread by Konal Doddz (already a thread)

this reeks of nazism

Well, needs is rather different from "has to".
So it was a stupid impulse on my part - I apologize.
I don't know much about internet protocols. I really, truly spend time on ILB and ILX because...I don't know all that much about internet communities.
I don't interact this way at all.
If I have offended anyone, I apologize.
I must go listen to my Gnarls Barkely CD and think about snakes.
Thanks, Alison

P.S. Was the nazism reference about my insistence or your locking? I thought it was directed toward me, but now I don't know.
I'm not really good at this!

i don't think that's an unreasonable thread to start... definitely does not deserve to be locked.

????

Also you started that thread about four hours after you'd posted on your existing birthday thread - I was just being flippant about whether you really needed to start a new thread? Can't comment on why Steve locked it though (or whether he's a Nazi, but he doesn't strike me as the type).

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 6 August 2006 18:51 (nineteen years ago)

Even if you did talk me through some experience with my brother that I can't even actually remember, does being nice to someone once give you a free pass from flippant comments and general ribbing for the rest of all time? Because, hey, I LOVE EVERYTHING! So y'all have to be nice to me forever.

this is the worst thread in the history of the internet

it is a problem, yes

i agree with the part about not being good at the internet

Ailsa, I don't know why the thread was locked. Who did I offend?
If I am correct, you went through some troubles with your brother, and I was helpful to you.
Whatever. You're delightful. i don't have any issues with you.
I started a thread, as a joke, that is locked but not, of course, deleted, and everything seems to be out of control.
Am I kicked off the internet? Ha ha!
Let's just all try to be nice to each other.
Thanks, Alison

there was a already a thread for people to wish aimurchie a happy birthday which she herself had posted on so it seemed silly and pointless for this other thread to remain. this was the only 'offence'.

'neighbour swallowed by python' is totally the excuse i am going to use next time i fail to see an existing thread tho.

Thanks, everyone.
I assume all is forgiven with my bad thread behaviour.
The neighbors arm is looking pretty good! post python.
