Hey, what happened to the search interface?

I kind of asked this question on another thread, but I would really like an answer if anyone can give one: I understand that the ILX search function is fucked, but there is an option to have a google search box in the upper right corner of ILX, and it is currently disabled (if you try it says something like "I SAID IT AIN'T WORKIN". Were google/GIS searches also causing poxy fule events, or was this just done as a preventative measure to keep people from trying to do board searches?
