Can we IP ban this douche?

UART variations (ex machina), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 02:56 (eighteen years ago)

because you're a chronic spammer, for one

jimbo (electricsound), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:03 (eighteen years ago)

if you go away and never return, i promise to stop locking you out

jimbo (electricsound), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:06 (eighteen years ago)

could you first tell me why you lock me out?
I'm not spamming anything. To be a spammer you have to try to be selling something and I'm not selling anything. Just wanting to share my ideas with people...isnt that the American way?

Abra K. Dabra (householdname), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:07 (eighteen years ago)

we hate you

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:08 (eighteen years ago)

plus i hate your smarmy face

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:09 (eighteen years ago)

Paul: Give up posting spam. I'll keep on filtering for whatever variations of your blog URL you come up with.

If you keep trying to get round that, it'll set up a script that deletes anything you post, within five minutes of you posting.

xpost: spam is linking to your blog. A lot. Stop that.

stet (stet), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:09 (eighteen years ago)

Why do you hate me? You dont even know me. And I've never said anything derogatory to anyone. Sure, I have strong opinions about some things, but show me someone who doesnt and I'll show you someone who is rather boring.
Seriously, I'll leave, but I'd like to know what in the world I've done to have such an avalanche of hate dropped on me.

Abra K. Dabra (householdname), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

You spammed us.

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:13 (eighteen years ago)

stet, why do you consider linking to my blog as spam?
I generally just use my blog as sort of a signature. And no one is being forced to click the link--in fact the link says MySpaceblog right in it--so why would they even click on it?
Why cant they just look at it as a signature, no different than your signature: stet (email address). Do people automatically have to click on your email address everytime you make a post? Ofcourse not, so then why should my blog link be any different?

Abra K. Dabra (householdname), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:15 (eighteen years ago)

You posted this:
can you believe this list?
Nirvana at #7 while yo la tenga is tied with the police?
http://blog.myspace.com/[yourblog]

Which is your list! That's not a signature, that's "come read my blog!"

stet (stet), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:17 (eighteen years ago)

PEW, do you think it is a coincidence that every message board hates you?

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:22 (eighteen years ago)

Okay. I'll stop that. But I would like to put a link to my blog as a signature when I post somewhere--is that at least possible?

Abra K. Dabra (householdname), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:23 (eighteen years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:34 (eighteen years ago)

But I would like to put a link to my blog as a signature when I post somewhere--is that at least possible?

No.

stet (stet), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:35 (eighteen years ago)

all right stet, I accept that. But do you mind me asking why this board doesnt allow signature? I cant think of any other board I've ever been to that doesnt allow signatures. And if folks dont want to see the signatures their is a feature that allows them to disable it. So was this a conscious decisions by the board creators? And if so, then why?

Abra K. Dabra (householdname), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:41 (eighteen years ago)

Look at this place! It barely allows images! We like it like that. I'm pretty sure this is the only forum in the world where comments on a code rewrite are things like "it looks too much like a forum", and "just plain text please".

stet (stet), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:44 (eighteen years ago)

Well I can certainly appreciate you sticking to your guns in that regard...I guess theres a niche for that kind of message board minimalism. But I wonder is this done for aesthetic reasons? Or is it something else?

Abra K. Dabra (householdname), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 03:48 (eighteen years ago)

Because the serious answer keep people like myself informed. Otherwise, I'd be all "stop abusing the poor guy, what has he ever done?"

PEW, if he's reading, if you can't stop posting that as yr 'sig' then go somewhere where that's allowed. There are lots of boards that are set-up to do that. I like this place for a number of reasons, number seven is "It's entire of itself, there isn't a lot of "read this blog and comment here or (better) on there"... (number eight is: "ah I can't think of a number eight")

The original reason he was banned had nothing to do with blog pimping and everything to do with racist trolling, btw.

racist trolling = "i would have sex with all this black girls"

vita susicivus (blueski), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 11:39 (eighteen years ago)

It was all that 'you are all just suffering from white man's guilt' thing that was the last straw I think.

Okay, trolling based on race, anyway.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 11:40 (eighteen years ago)

If you like your board this way, then fine. I'm not criticising it. In fact I like it this way for the most part as well. In this age of information it is easy to get over-saturated with data and images and bullshit, etc. But I dont see what harm having a small signature (next to your name for instance) would do?

seeing as there is a resounding consensus against signatures on this board, incessantly linking to your blog here amounts to a breach of both taste and etiquette.

this is why you should get the fuck out and never come back.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

No, many people who have differing opinions do stay here and contribute. It's just that generally when they are told, no, this specific behavior is not allowed, they accept it and move on. Continuing to post over and over again something that you know very well will make you banned is nothing more or less than trolling, though, and that is why you are being locked out by fascist bore pigs.

PS I have never read your blog and will not do so seeing your behavior here.

stet (stet), Wednesday, 31 January 2007 17:58 (eighteen years ago)

How hard would it be to build a Negative Zone capability? I would find it more entertaining than a sitewide ban than just to stick certain posters into a Sartre-like room/thread, and have that be the only place they can post. For example, there's a coupla posters in particular I'd like to consign to a thread with PEW.
