Is there any way to save the username and password? Every time I visit this new place, I have to log in all over again.

You have to save it in your browser, I'm afraid. However, the only real difference it will make is that the #unread marker doesn't yet work when you're logged out.

If you make a post, it will save it until you've logged in. Just click log in and it will be posted.

It doesn't always save properly since the login url is different each time

And, you know, you won't have to type your entire e-mail address and password each time you want to post something. Which is making me gnash my teeth. This place has been reduced to the functionality of eBay! ;-)

Anyway, yes, patience patience, one thing at a time, etc.

when I post a response when logged out I get to a page to log in, do so then it sends me to the "Failed to insert message." page.

that means you entered your e-mail or password wrong.

try again.

no need to ; I don't know if the order of what I do is important in this problem but it breaks down like that:

1. am logged out
2. post a response to some thread
3. gets me to a page to log in
4 I log in then it sends me to the "Failed to insert message." page.
5. I click on "new answers", get back to the thread I wanted to post and submit my response (I often "back-up" my response with ctrl+c on ilx2). and it works. the log in works; I just wanted to "document" that little problem.
