So are you going to give moderation back on the "other" boards or is this "delay" some Bush admin shit?

Seems like this may be the slippery slope!

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:37 (eighteen years ago)

seems like somebody needs a waaaaambulance

TOMBOT, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:49 (eighteen years ago)

hey, figure out how i hacked old ilx yet? Ask stet for hints!

JW, Monday, 5 March 2007 20:56 (eighteen years ago)

you seem to be under the impression that you only did it once!

TOMBOT, Monday, 5 March 2007 21:02 (eighteen years ago)

yea, breaking page layout is pretty impressive, IT choad.

PS - Can I submit a formal request to ban tombot from the noise board? Thanks!

I fear the volley of "punishment" that will descend upon noize board when admin privs are back.

jessie monster, Monday, 5 March 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

maybe as bad as the volley of cookie stealing

aww pabs

jergincito, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 11:22 (eighteen years ago)

Jon, are you going to persist in giving three dozen idiots (eg, Mr Que and ghost rider) you've never met admin status so you can stay Mr. Popular, while we all just play banning games all day?

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)

haha JW "Mr. Popular"

Nobody on the noise board is getting admin. The source code is free. Get your own hosting and ban each other from that.

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

Bans work SITE WIDE on the new ILX, so there's another reason "when do we get noize mods back" is a moot question. esp. in the case of "Mr. Popular"

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 14:46 (eighteen years ago)

i've met jon!

ghost rider, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

i think it's cute how he hates you because you and MW though, you're the new dan and ned in my puppet show.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 6 March 2007 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

wait "because"? rly, ally?

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Tuesday, 6 March 2007 16:53 (eighteen years ago)

nobody is the "new" anybody, all jerkwads are endowed by their Creator with the same trividiocy

Dr Morbius, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 18:36 (eighteen years ago)

Seriously people, can we stop mentioning Dan (aka me) into Morbius feuds? I am really tired of it.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 19:19 (eighteen years ago)

talking about the faking dan

TOMBOT, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

oh, so it was a bait and switch thanks coders!

THE BATLLE OF ADMIN IS OVER
THE GREAT NERD WAR HAS BEGUN

sanskrit, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 20:39 (eighteen years ago)

quoth stet:

The new code doesn't let admins inject direct HTML, and doesn't allow
images that link back to the ILX domain. It also won't allow stuff
like the one above.

So why can't we have mod accounts on subboards¿

JW, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

THERE WILL BE MOD ACCOUNTS ON S UB BOARDS!

stet, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:35 (eighteen years ago)

The reason it's not happening right now is that the code for creating mods makes htem in the database, but doesn't update the cache, which takes ages to clear as you know from the name-change. It's fixed in the dev build.

stet, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:37 (eighteen years ago)

Things I am kind of shocked and awed by, a list:

*Stet's patience
*the fact that JW and TM don't get along
*visiblebike.jpg

nickalicious, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:38 (eighteen years ago)

But I won't get one? Correct? Yes? Or is Tom just feeling his oats since commiting CSS to subversion?

JW, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:43 (eighteen years ago)

are you sure you are ok? you seem a little manic again

chimera, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

god, srsly Stet, we ought to send you a gift basket.

Everybody knows if we give JW noise board mod powers he'll just take everyone else's away and ban half the board next time someone teases him. Sorry dude.

I guess we'll have to suffer LJ on noize board for the greater good. ;______;

jessie monster, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:52 (eighteen years ago)

I can't really see you having the power to ban anyone from the whole site swinging, to be honest.

stet, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 21:54 (eighteen years ago)

Eh, that makes some sense!

chimera on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 4:52 PM (10 minutes ago)

You seem a little sockpuppetish

JW, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

I'm just really disappointed with the lack of upfront communication about these issues.

JW, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:05 (eighteen years ago)

It was in the FAQ! I was just screwy on the schedule for it.

stet, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:19 (eighteen years ago)

The FAQ isn't linked from the bottom of the pages!!! Where are my dentures!!!?!?!

JW, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

disappointed

Keith, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:27 (eighteen years ago)

The unlocking/locking of this thread is killing me! It's like playing Messageboard Roulette.

HI DERE, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:36 (eighteen years ago)

don't be disappointed keith. Everyone has crushes on you according to some thread!

byebyepride, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:37 (eighteen years ago)

What you talking' about Willis?

Keith, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:42 (eighteen years ago)

1) If I reimplemented the comments parser / sanitizer to use html, would you go with it?
2) If 1, would it be tractable to get a different HTML filter on noise board?

JW, Tuesday, 6 March 2007 22:49 (eighteen years ago)

i second stet gift basket idea. it should contain lots of muffins. also: booze.

tehresa, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 00:26 (eighteen years ago)

(haha hi i am on crack oops)

HI DERE, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 01:02 (eighteen years ago)

I am guessing definite "no" to #2 and probable "no" to #1, but that is just a hunch.

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 01:22 (eighteen years ago)

Wait. HI DERE is Dan Perry?

kv_nol, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 13:33 (eighteen years ago)

bait and switch

JW, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 16:58 (eighteen years ago)

Things have been quiet on ILG lately. Dan Barramous hasn't been around, Gz 2.0 hasn't had any recent flare-ups. No current need to ban anyone on that front.

kingfish, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 20:48 (eighteen years ago)

Dear sirs,

May I please have Mod access to I Love Baseball please?

Thanks,

Steve Shasta
I Love Baseball Moderator

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 21:59 (eighteen years ago)

Please.

And thanks.

Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

they're not going to give it to you because it'd cause a holy shitstorm if they gave mod access special to you and no one else on a sub-board, dude. :\

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 7 March 2007 22:18 (eighteen years ago)

John Justen already has mod privs on IMM.

jessie monster, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 22:21 (eighteen years ago)

well, there we go.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 7 March 2007 22:26 (eighteen years ago)

Listen to "adam," it's ALL hers.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 22:33 (eighteen years ago)

Just to clarify, I'm not an IMM mod yet, but it is (I think) in the works the next time the database reboots, or some such. Didn't want anyone to feel left out of what I imagine will be the limited/non-existent fun of admin.

John Justen, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 23:49 (eighteen years ago)

Steve check yr email

stet, Wednesday, 7 March 2007 23:56 (eighteen years ago)

You guys are shitty moderators.

Hey, who locked all the admins from the sandbox noise board?

.stet., Thursday, 8 March 2007 18:06 (eighteen years ago)

we locked everyone

JW, Thursday, 8 March 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

maybe you could read THE ADMIN LOG, its this really great feature of greenspun.tcl

JW, Thursday, 8 March 2007 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

"we"

.stet., Thursday, 8 March 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)

Not having an admin log is a great feature of ILX2

Administrator, Thursday, 8 March 2007 19:02 (eighteen years ago)

The admin rights were not carried over from the old boards. Furthermore and allowing users to edit HTML straight onto the page is a security problem. There will very shortly be a new class of mod who can delete posts from their board, or flag threads as locked, or not safe for work and who can LOCK users. Permissions for them will roll out in the coming days.

Just for reference.

I presume that former satellite mods will eventually get their mad mod powers back soon, and without having to ask for them? I'm mostly curious and not asking for them outright, since ILC doesn't need any real modding at the moment (just like before).

Leee, Thursday, 8 March 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

Need to ask -- the old admin privs DB is huge/filled with inactive users.

stet, Thursday, 8 March 2007 20:01 (eighteen years ago)

OK WELL I NEED MOD BACK ON ASK CHAKI.

chaki, Thursday, 8 March 2007 20:07 (eighteen years ago)

COOL

stet, Thursday, 8 March 2007 20:15 (eighteen years ago)

For now, though, mod powers aren't active, aren'tiright?

Leee, Thursday, 8 March 2007 20:35 (eighteen years ago)

They are -- they just take a while to become active on accounts after they're applied.

stet, Thursday, 8 March 2007 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

"we"

.stet. on Thursday, March 8, 2007 1:13 PM (3 hours ago)

Yeah, that's the royal "we" there. I am pretty excited it was all to prevent people unbanning me though.

jessie monster, Thursday, 8 March 2007 21:18 (eighteen years ago)

i am drinking a beer and smoking the most amazing cigarette. have you ever noticed how well a cigarette and a beer go together?

chimera, Thursday, 8 March 2007 21:40 (eighteen years ago)

I'm mostly just pissed that I couldn't see which mods were unbanning people in general.

JW, Thursday, 8 March 2007 23:07 (eighteen years ago)

CAN I B ADMIN COOL BOY OF I R8 EVERYTHIN

am0n, Friday, 9 March 2007 02:58 (eighteen years ago)

thanks!

jergincito, Friday, 9 March 2007 09:56 (eighteen years ago)

hay jessie you know this means we could start a bummerz (or any other emoticon you wish) thread if we wanted to now and it wouldn't get locked!

tehresa, Saturday, 10 March 2007 05:56 (eighteen years ago)

Sir, I too would like mod status on IRE, if time permits. I appreciate you. Thnx.
