even made the lazy zing thread suck :(

That one guy that hit it and quit it, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)

kid could probably use a 72-hour break once in a while but if "making stuff suck" was a crime then we'd never have needed to buy a new server ever

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 19 September 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

say those last 10 words five times fast

sanskrit, Thursday, 20 September 2007 02:50 (eighteen years ago)

Tom, since you locked my other ModReq thread, can I ask why you said "no"? Is it mostly just a case of "this is in no way a pressing issue and we're not going to waste anyone's time with it"? 'Cause if so, that's cool, I'm just curious.

jaymc, Thursday, 20 September 2007 05:22 (eighteen years ago)

suffice to say it would require a major performance hit, an overhaul of the way nu-ilx is designed to work, and you aren't any more special than tehresa, myself, chaki, hstencil or anybody else who's ever posted on ILE bitching about JW's twitchy banfinger.

it would be possible to write a greasemonkey script to do it on the client side but you'd have to input the boardid's for wherever you're banned yourself. when I was the kind of dude who got banned I would use koogs' SiteNewAnswers killfile to just keep NB from appearing.

You could also tell AdBlock to enable Site Blocking and give it a filter for " www.ilxor.com/*boardid=## " where ## is, say, the number of the NB. That way adblock will just refuse to let you read anything on it, which is a pretty good indicator.

If you're looking for a way to know when you've been unbanned, the best way would be to keep visiting and trying to post "I've been unbanned! Hooray!" over and over to a thread of your choice until it works.

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 September 2007 05:30 (eighteen years ago)

this thread is weird.

gr8080, Thursday, 20 September 2007 05:34 (eighteen years ago)

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Thursday, 20 September 2007 06:52 (eighteen years ago)

Mark G, Thursday, 20 September 2007 08:14 (eighteen years ago)

gershy, Thursday, 20 September 2007 08:30 (eighteen years ago)

blueski, Thursday, 20 September 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)

jon knows better than to dilute the bloodline

El Tomboto, Thursday, 20 September 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

you aren't any more special than tehresa, myself, chaki, hstencil or anybody else who's ever posted on ILE bitching about JW's twitchy banfinger.

Well, it isn't for my sake alone. I thought it would be useful for anyone who's been banned. But yeah, that's totally understandable. (For the record, though, I still don't really like the abrupt locking of ModReq threads.)

jaymc, Thursday, 20 September 2007 16:22 (eighteen years ago)

abrupt locking is a consequence of MRB being victim to so many 'ban X because oooh they make me so cross with their WORDS'

blueski, Friday, 21 September 2007 14:31 (eighteen years ago)

keeping one thread rolling for anyone to comment/protest on a mod action after the request thread itself has been locked maybe a good idea tho.
