there was already a debate about Toddp's posting his nyc events. People seemed to lean towards it being cool with them...

people not from NYC are jealous

I know we (and not even me) have deleted listings before. And someone pointed out that Kate got away with posting her concerts without much flak. I just forget what it was now days.

In the past, I've deleted spam if it was from a non regular, IE someone just blowing in to hawk their product. regular posters promoting their gigs, radio shows, etc, I personally have no problem w/. (FWIW)

I don't think anyone's cut and pasted an advert with quite that gusto before.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 18:32 (twenty-one years ago)

there was no cutting and pasting, this is an announcement I typed myself this morning and sent to my list, and inturn to the two lists that I am on, nyhappennings & ILM and no others. I don't see what's so offensive, I have posted to the site about other things before and particaped in threads that I didn't initiate.

I certainly didn't post this with any special "gusto," in fact I spent quite a while fiddling with my unique post to ILM, trying to get my html tags to work with ILM's system, then failed, which is why this announcemnet was reposted (the html-y one didn't display properly.)

bottom line, I think that an announcemnet about some not-for-profit shows involving legitimate music made by people with great record collections and good taste and talent is exactly the sort of thing this space is for. in other words, we all love music here, yes? the people performing are both friends with and admired by a number of folks who are regular posters.

not to mention, if I were a spammer I wouldn't be sticking around to read your posts, now would I?

todd p, Tuesday, 3 August 2004 19:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to agree with Todd, he has posted before and is not just doing a hit and run thing here. There have been similar announcements from him in the past which did not raise any complaint at the time.

Also, AN ILXOR is mentioned in one of those show announcements...

dean? (deangulberry), Tuesday, 3 August 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for the support, yeah - hstensil aka Joel Hunt is mentioned.

also, hey, since this is the moderator request line, would it be possible to delete the "RESEND W/OUT HTML:" from the post subject line? Since the messed up html version has been deleted, it doesn;t make sense anymore for me to have that there.

thanks in advance. Todd
