If it's anything to take seriously, I would be pretty inclined to out the person concerned, if they could be identified. If it goes on a lot, especially from people who knew they couldn't be identified, that would be another significant push towards making ILE registered-posting only - I am a mod only on ILE, so it's the only board I can, to some extent, speak for.

Yeah but its Jon, one of the biggest assholes on the board, so you have to expect that he'd fuck up a thread. He really should have been banned months ago but the mods have let this place turn into anarchy

That's an ILM post -- *checks* -- not directly associated with any other poster. So is this a formal complaint, Jon? The only thing I'd note right now is that the distinction between anonymous and open attacks on somebody isn't always clear when it comes to unwelcome behavior.

i think it would be funny to change anonynyms to "real" posternames occasionally, at random, with no set pattern - not every time cuz then noone will post anonymously (or at least attack anonymously)(which are always unintentionally hilarious - "I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS. signed, a huge pussy") but just occasionally so that every now and then someone will pull this and get burned. with sexy results.

No exact IP match on the part 2 thread, but it appears to be from the UK; no one has posted on a SIMILAR IP for over a year so really hard to tell if it's anyone we know.

This is pretty much the basic sort of situation we were talking about that would justify making ILE registered-users-only for posting privileges. I am holding off doing it for now, partly because I'm not 100% sure it's justified yet and part because I can't be arsed at the moment. (I also half suspect that the reason it's being done is to actually force our hand on the issue.)
