Hi,

Could you delete this post?

(Background: An anonymous poster called for a boycott of a Chicago rock club. I forwarded an e-mail from a friend of mine associated with the club to N/A, who then made an oblique reference to the e-mail on the thread. Ordinarily, not a big deal, except I'm not sure who this anonymous poster is, and I don't want what my friend said to be made public in any way. I'm probably being overly cautious, but N/A gives his permission -- you can check a few posts down -- so if you could take care of this, that would be great. Thanks.)

(This is the same request that N/A makes on the "post deletion request" thread, FYI.)

OK, we really need to delegate one person to be in charge of this.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I think nick was being pretty nondescript as well as inoffensive, the whole controversy seems on the level of rumor and innuendo, so I'm going to leave it be.

Hi can somebody delete this post: the bird flu will kill us all! where I mispasted something about bossa nova in the bird flu thread? You can also delete my follow up apology immediately after.

Second request. I know everybody is busy and this is not important in the grand scheme, but can you please delete the two posts on the bird flu thread, that I mentioned in the previous post on this thread?

Usually moderators delete things if they're patently offensive, potentially libelous, give away information, or hamper the efficency of the board (either in a technical or signal/noise sense). No offense, but this is on the level of a spelling mistake.

I'm not going to delete these sort of things, mostly because I think it is funny when people start wittering on about the Celtic game on a thread about anal sex or something. Sorry.

OK, fair enough. My bad. I seemed to see spelling mistakes being corrected in the logs, but maybe that was long ago. Can I request a delete on the vulgar all-caps post on Dada's Songs about Songwriter's thread on ILM? I believe it falls squarely under the definition of patently offensive.
