Thread E-Mail Notification Suggestion?

So, you know, some G00gler makes a thread, you post to it on a lark / because you have this one-liner you want to use / you're feeling peckish and OH NO E-MAIL NOTIFICATION SENT?!?! Is there any way to put a note @ the top of a thread (or some red flag type of thing) to notify folks when e-mail notification on a thread is turned on?

Never having done this and never going to, what is the notif? "Reply to your answer available" type, or "Message received is "xxxxxx"" type?
